Shipley's, Nassau Bay

I need food.  Wife needs food.  Colin needs food.  I need sleep more but I am ordered to get some kolaches, but not donuts.  Well, if I am only getting kolaches, then I am going to Shipley's Donuts on Nasa Parkway in Nassau Bay.  Their donuts are ok, but their kolaches are worth driving all the way to bustling metropolitian known as Nassau Bay.

soooo sleepy, yet sooo hungry...

I do like my new sweater though.  Wife found it at The Gap for like 80% off ($100 down to $20).  It is nice and warm and it makes me look smarter.  I'm not sure how wool does it, but I feel like I need a pipe, a leather chair, and a book club when I wear that sweater.  I have drifted way off the road so let me do a U-turn and get back to the blog.

I don't feel like going in, so I hit the drive-thru.  I get a dozen kolaches and my total bill was $14.99.  That is really pricy, but they give NO price break if you buy a dozen, they just charge your for 12 kolaches.  Can you believe it?  Everyone else does it for donuts or kolaches, but not Shipley's.  Well, you punks need to get off your high horse and give me a frequent flyer card or an employee discount or something.  15 bucks for 12 kolaches is just too much to do on a regular basis.

I get home and am barely able to take this picture before tiny hands start grabbing at them.  Those things are trapped in there like a kolache interrment camp but that is their lot in life:  cooked, jammed into a tiny box, and devoured by hungry children (Colin), sexy women (Sarah), and fat bloggers (me).

I have just been ordered to type that you are not allowed to look at the kitchen, only me shoving a kolache in my pie hole.
STOP LOOKING.  No I mean it this time.

Colin loves these as well.  He likes to lay in the recliner and curl up with the kolache and watch cartoons.  This picture looks like he is cuddling the kolache.  I do the same thing; it is cute when he does it, creepy when I do it.  Man kids get away with everything...

To sum up, Shipley's has the best kolaches in the area.  The sausage has a great flavor, the cheese works perfectly, and the bread is always fresh.  However, they are expensive when buying  more than a couple and their donuts are surprisingly average.  The glazed ones are only good when you eat them withing 30 minutes after cooking.  After that, they get hard way too fast and the other donuts are decent at best.  They should change their name to "Shipley's Delicious but Overpriced Kolache Hut" but that's a lot of signs to change and they would probably raise the price of kolaches again.  Nevermind, I willl just eat and keep my mouth shut.
