Wow...um...hi my name is Don and I (allegedly) write a food blog. I have been just a weeeeeee bit busy with my new job. I do love teaching but it sure does cut into my blog time. So here it is, only 4 months late. We went to this concert in August (yikes!) so enjoy and stop complaining because more is coming soon!

So Sarah and I decide to go to see Daughtry at Warehouse Live, a great venue for acts, but it was waaaay to small for him. Scalpers bought all the tickets 10 minutes after they went on sale and then all the tickets mysteriously appeared on eBay, Craigslist, etc. So we paid $50 per ticket instead of the face value of $20 per ticket.

We still had a great time because Daughtry rocked hard so it was well worth it.

We had some time before having to go home, so I suggest we go to Katz's Deli on the corner of Westheimer and Montrose. It's open 24 hours and it is also a place I used to visit all the time in the middle of the night. Alas, I am now married with children so it is much more difficult to come and go as I please so I really cherish my rare visits now.

So many choices! I can't decide. Do I get waffles with ice cream? Maybe an oooooicious hot dog? Forget that, we are going for the good stuff: fried pickles? Check. Stuffed jalapenos with raspberry dipping sauce? Check Mate baby.

Were they good? Is a sunrise beautiful? Is a rose a beautiful smelling flower? Is David Cook the best Idol ever? The answer is yes, but only to question 1 and 4.

The fried pickles were incredible. The perfect combination of crunch and flavor. Also, what do you think of the new glasses? I think I look like a more handsome version of Danny Gokey, but that's my opinion.

The jalapenos were just spicy enough to be entertaining, and the raspberry sauce was money in the bank.

Service can be spotty there but that night it was right on. We got home in time so dad could go home and go to bed. His free babysitting allows us to enjoy these rare nights out.

Anyways, Katz's is awesome and not just because it is open 24/7. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is cool, and the neighborhood is always entertaining. If you've never been, go and enjoy! Tell them Don sent you, even though they probably have no idea who I am.
