Freebirds, Webster

Nicholas and I are hungry.  Not super hungry, but hungry enough that we need to stop before he starts looking at me like I am a cheeseburger.  In the back of my head I am also looking for a place that I can blog because I want to write.  As we leave Gamestop, I see Freebirds next to the Kolache Factory in the bustling metropolitan we call Webster.  Burritos the size of my head are always a tasty option, so we go in.

If you have never been there, the inside is a very unique experience.  Personally, it looks like they are trying too hard to be "eclectic" and "weird" but I was still impressed with the motorcycle hanging from the ceiling.  Almost impressed enough to have thoughts of breaking, entering, and motorcycling the heck outta there, but not quite.  The place was pretty quiet for dinnertime, but I normally see their parking lot packed so I figure that Tuesdays are not Burrito Days for people around here.

I ordered a Hybrid Steak Burrito with flour tortilla, white rice and black beans, cheese, mild tomatillo sauce (since Nico and I are sharing), and cilantro.  We also ordered a side of nachos with cheese dipping sauce.  Wow, I am starting to get scared of this burrito.

Once they have wrapped everything up, it looked like some kind of SCUD missile preparing to attack.

You thought I was kidding!  This burrito actually was the size of my head.  My head is not Bobblehead or John Mayer-esque, but it is pretty large.

Nicholas was so overwhelmed that he needed two hands and a foot to hold this monster.  After a few bites he was "full" (AKA I'm done trying to mess with this monster) and stole all my nachos.  Not even the inspiration of Agent P could make him attach that thing anymore:

I continued to struggle with the monstrosity, but the juices were destroying the back of the burrito like it was paper mache.  After about 2/3 was finished I just stopped because the tortilla was destroyed and was inedible.

I am a huge fan of big ol' burritos (Mission Burrito, Chipotle, etc.) but they have to be within reason.  They either need to get better quality tortillas, fresher tortillas (more likely), or be more aware of how acidic their sauces are.  Freebirds definitely falls as a distant third in the Giant Burrito Race.
