I'm just relaxing after a VERY stressful 2 weeks so I hit BJ's Restaurant and Brewery on Bay Area in Webster. I'm rolling solo (of course) so I sit at the bar. My first instinct is to order a Shiner but the bartender named Alicia (fire red hair, cool West Virginia accent) has me try their brews.
She gives me a taste of their Jeremiah Red and it was gooood. Maybe it was her red hair, but she convinced me to try this mix of the Red and a Berry Burst Cider she called a "Jerry Burst." Holy crap that was tasty!!
So now I am sitting just staring at the menu trying to decide what to eat. The Cuban Burger sounds yummo, but I have the appetite of a housefly lately so I think I may pass. I order some mini-bruschetta while I try to decide what to eat. Maybe focaccia will help me decide.
The more I think about it, Cuban Burger is starting to sound really good. Maybe it's the Burst talking, but I'm thinking meat, ham, and pickle are gonna feel happy in my belly. Once my bruschetta arrives, I order the burger.
It doesn't look very Cuban. Maybe Dominican, maybe Panamanian, but not too Cuban. I don't care about my sandwich's nationality anymore, I'm ready to eat.
Oooh it is good! The pickle gives it just the right amount of crunch to make it really good. I wish the bread would have been like sliced bread instead of a baguette cut in half. That (and a grill press) would have made it super awesome.
My gnat-esque appetite somehow allowed me to eat half of the sandwich before I felt like bursting apart. The Jerry Burst was so good I even had 2. I know I know: Don?? 2 beers?? Is the world going to end? Do I need to build my aluminum foil hat now??? It was good and it didn't taste like real beer more like....ginger ale. We all know how I can pound some G-Ale. Good times.
Whoa that was a little off topic. Anyway, BJ's is a cool and relaxing place to eat dinner or just hang out. I normally get a pizza (which are really good), but since it was only me then I thought I would try something different. They can be hard to get to coming from my house and it's still weird they share parking with Jason's Deli, but it definitely worth the trip.
